What type of stainless steel does Home Puff use?
All our stainless steel lunch boxes are made of a premium food-grade type 304 stainless steel. We use this steel grade for its consistent quality and performance characteristics. An electrolytic charge and dolomitic sand blasting cover the inner coating of our containers.
What is stainless steel 304?
Stainless steel 304 is a standard 18/8 steel type that contains chromium and nickel as its main constituents. 304 Steel is highly corrosion resistant, which means our products have a long shelf-life. It is capable of retaining its quality in a wide range of atmospheric and corrosive environments. Most household applications make use of this grade, as it is 100% food grade. This steel has applications in medical equipment, as well. So, you can always be sure that all our products are extremely safe for everyday use.
Do Home Puff stainless steel drinking containers have an inner BPA-based lacquer coating like aluminium ones?
No! As the Stainless Steel 304 that we use in our products is completely safe for storing foods it doe not require any protective coating. The steel is extremely non-corrosive so leaching, staining, corrosion and rusting does not occur in the products.
What Kind of quality tests do our products go through?
SS 304 undergoes international production standards of ASTM A240, ASTM A666, ASME SA240 and AMS 5513, which already makes it safe for use. Other than that we carry out production standards under all national/international standards of production making our products completely compliant for everyday use. We manufacture our products using modern machinery and sophisticated technology.
What is the “line” I can see inside HomePuff Stainless drinking containers?
This is a lead-free, argon gas welding seam from the construction processes. We use a premium type 304, grade 18/8 stainless steel with raw materials testing. We roll a steel sheet into a tube and weld it using lead-free argon gas. The stainless tubes then go through a series of hydraulic expansion and heat-treating processes to create specific model shapes. Finishing of the inner container is done with a combination of dolomitic sandblasting and an electrolytic charge. Unlike aluminium drinking containers, stainless steel is inert and does not require a lacquer coating on the inner surface; often these contain BPA.
What is the plastic in Home Puff drinking containers made of?
We use a tested #5 food-grade polypropylene (pp) in the lids and collars; #5 PP is plastic with good durability and no known leaching characteristics. Plastic used in all our products is 100% BPA-free and does not show any signs of leaching.
Can I put hot liquids in my single wall stainless steel bottle?
No, our single wall containers provide no insulation and present a burn hazard if used with hot liquids. Consider one of our insulating vacuum bottles for use with HOT liquids.
Will the stainless steel reacts with acidic beverages like juice?
No, stainless steel will not react, however it is not recommended that acidic beverages be store container for a long period of time. If you do, we recommend cleaning them using a bristle brush and a solution of white vinegar and baking soda prior to washing again in hot soapy water, rinsing well and then drying.
Can stainless steel bottles be put on a stove?
No, doing so presents a burn hazard and in addition, will melt the PP collar.
